Skin Health Eblasts

Why skin?

Many people ask me why I decided to focus on treating skin. Firstly, the treatment of skin is a very objective practice. I can see with my own eyes any changes. Where as in other internal problems like pain, the results after treatment are more subjective, it is up to the patients own personal feeling. With problems on the surface of the body I can measure the change. I can take a photograph before and after and both the patient and practitioner can see whether there is any change or not. With people who have been living with a chronic skin disease and who have tried many different therapies to help them, they are very happy to experience the changes that Chinese Medicine offers them. The results are undeniable.

Another reason is my wife's story,  who after suffering with head to toe atopic eczema for over 23 years, was pretty much cured with chinese herbs. I loved to see her confidence, self esteem, and quality of life all change. She no longer suffered with that recalcitrant itch and sleepless nights fighting her skin. She used to grab my hand and say, "Feel how soft it is! I never thought I would ever have soft skin!". It has been almost 6 years now since she was first freed from her eczema and she does not take chinese herbs any more for this, nor has she in at least 5 years. Once her body was reminded of where a healthy balance existed, then her body stayed there on its own.

In my practice at Acubalance Wellness Centre, at least 50% of people coming in had some type of skin disorder. Most people came to me initially for help in optimizing their fertility and were quite pleased when they discovered that their skin got better as well. One women recently told me that after 28 years of struggling with psoriasis, she could finally see her elbow! She was obviously very pleased. I see many different types of skin problems that I am sure have some influence on their reproductive health. Their skin lesions add an extra diagnostic tool for me to focus on with treatment. The skin problems I see alot are: acne, eczema of many different types including- pompholox, nummular, seborrheic dermatitis, and atopic, psoriasis, rosacea, and fungal disease. All of these benefit from chinese herbal treatment.

Many of the people who come to me have tried so many different methods to allievate their problem. Most of the time they are told by their western specialist that they will just have to make due and will have this problem for the rest of their lives. This was certainly the case with my wife, who was told that she would need to use topical steroids for the duration of her life which would have many chronic side effects, including permanent thinning of the skin. Many people are told that their skin problem is not related to anything else in their bodies, including their reproductive health, digestion or mental/ emotional state. From my experience this is just not true. We are whole beings, where one part influences the other. This is why chinese medicine can be so successful in treating so many things, we treat the whole being, not just a part. My wife and others that I have seen, have proven that there is always another way to look at our problems. This is what motivates me to reach out and help.
