I recently found several research studies posted on the PubMed research data base that make direct parallels to Accutane use and ulcerative colitis.

Some of the proposed theories of why accutune may lead to bowel disease include inhibition of epithelial cell growth resulting in ulceration and inflammation of the gut mucosa, inhibition of glycoprotein synthesis affecting the integrity of the mucosal wall, and stimulation of killer T cells, leading to epithelial cell injury and a resultant inflammatory response. I don't believe that it is too far off in assuming that if these type of reactions can lead to a somewhat serious and deadly disease like colitis, that the same reactions could or would affect the ovaries, testicles, and other sensitive organs.
