Ce Bai Ye (Cacumen Platycladus) is a Chinese herb that literally means "flat fir leaves". It is commonly used to cool the blood and stop bleeding, as in the treatment of epistaxis, hematemesis, hemoptysis, profuse menstrual bleeding, hematochezia, hematuria, and bleeding due to trauma. It has also been found useful to treat hair loss.

In the study posted in a 1973 edition of the Chinese Journal of Medicine (Zhong Hua Yi Xue Za Zhi), 160 people were treated topically with an alcohol infused herbal preparation. The researchers soaked 25 to 35 grams of Ce Bai Ye in 100ml of 60-70% alcohol for 7 days and then had patients with alopecia areata apply the tincture to their scalps 3 to 4 times per day. The end result was a 77.5% rate of effectiveness.
