Acne is a common problem faced by many women in their reproductive years. Often times it indicates elevated androgens (male hormones) and may be associated with menstrual irregularities, and even Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, a condition that involves two of the following criteria:

permanent scarring from picking pimples, the emotional stress
associated with their appearance tends to be the hardest on women.
Being more than skin deep, pimples that fluctuate with the menstrual
cycle signify an underlining hormonal imbalance and even problems
related to a women's fertility.
